GSA co-authors guides for tourism destination managers
Publishing a collection of books is an achievement we would feel proud of at any time, but this one feels especially good as it comes out of the last 18 months of working 100% virtually during the coronavirus pandemic. Through Colombia Más Competitiva, a Swiss government funded initiative to promote sustainable economic development in Colombia, we provided more than 300 hours of coaching on tourism destination development and management to tourism offices, hotels, tour operators, the local chambers of commerce and others in the provinces of Putumayo, Casanare, Meta, Guaviare, Guajira, Boyacá and Huila. Together with the brilliant Federico Murrugarra we have now co-authored a set of guides for use by destination managers either in developing their own destinations, or for those keen to take on a coaching role in the sector. The books cover key aspects in the destination management cycle from identification of the destination, destination analysis and planning, and are complemented by a guide on tourism product development.
